Book of Mormon: Day 111: He Knows

Today’s Reading: Words of Mormon 1:1-8

7 And I do this for a wise purpose; for thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will.

Mormon is one of my heroes. He dedicated his entire life to the work of the Lord and risked his life so that we could have the Book of Mormon. He witnessed more trials than I can even imagine. This included witnessing almost the entire destruction of his people! And yet he continued on with his work of abridging the Book of Mormon. I don’t think he personally understood just how much this would influence the world, but he knew that it was for a divine purpose.

I’m sure Mormon had his weaknesses just like we all do. I’m sure his faith was tested and he had his doubts. But despite all of this, the Lord worked a mighty wonder through this imperfect man.

I know that the Lord continues to work in the lives of His people. He has a plan and purpose for each of us! Sometimes it’s hard to understand that plan when things in life don’t go the way we want them to. It can be hard to see the good around us and even harder to see that goodness in ourselves! But as children of God we have endless potential and the Lord works His miracles through us.

I’ve definitely had my share of disappointments in life. But there are also those sweet moments where I know by the spirit that everything will be okay. I have seen the Lord’s hand in my life countless times. Sometimes I don’t see it until later down the road. But I have seen why certain people needed to be in my life, why certain trials came and why I had to make some changes. I’ve had other things happen in my life that I don’t have answers for and that’s okay. Like Mormon, I do not know all things. But I know that the Lord knows all things. He knows what I need and what I can accomplish. I know that as we trust in him and listen to the spirit more closely in our lives, we will draw closer to the Lord and see his hand more in our lives.
