Today’s reading: 1 Nephi 10:18-22, 1 Nephi 11:1-1
1 Nephi 10:18
18 For he is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him.
To me one of the most beautiful parts of the gospel is that God is unchanging. It doesn’t matter if you were born one hundred years ago, twenty years ago, or fifty years from now. No matter when you are born, the gospel of Jesus Christ will be the same. The teachings of Jesus Christ will stay the same. Heavenly Father’s plan for us as his children will not change.
I find that to be a powerful concept to cling to in today’s world. When life gives me challenges, I can find peace and relief in my scriptures knowing that the promises given by God will not change even if the world does. It is so comforting for me to know that with all the uncertainties in the world, that one thing is constant, and that is our Heavenly Father. I love this quote from Elder Pearson’s talk Stand by the Tree, because it is a further reminder that yes, I do know what God wants and asks of me. Sometimes the answers are right in front of me; I just need to turn to God and remember His promises and that His plan applies no matter what is happening in the world or in my life.

His teachings are just as true today as they were yesterday. I can be uplifted and strengthened in my times of need because I know that the principles of the gospel will not change and because of that, I can put all my faith in those teachings that bring me peace.
With all the challenges of today, and in the world we live, it is wonderful to know and believe this to be true!
I was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado but now call Bountiful, Utah home. I am blessed to have a wonderful husband (we met on a blind date!) and two beautiful daughters. I get to be a stay-at-home mom which I love. I’m also a Netflix binge watcher and an avid reader. I love shopping at Target, dark chocolate and spending time with our friends and family. Surviving the Columbine High School shooting as a teenager , battling infertility as an adult and knowing I am a daughter of God has helped me to look for the good in the world and focus on the tender mercies in my life.
