…Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father!…
The story of Nephi recounting his encounter with an angel is especially sweet to me because of how childlike and honest Nephi is when questioned by the angel. He admits humbly that he doesn’t know all things, but continues to testify that he knows his Father in Heaven loves his children here on earth. He knows that the tree Lehi saw represents the love our Heavenly Father has for us.
I love the example of humility and meekness Nephi shows when he bears witness of the living Christ and recounts what he is shown of His mortal ministry. I know that when we are meek and yield our hearts to our Heavenly Father and strengthen our testimony of his Son, Jesus Christ, we too can bear powerful witness of His ministry and how it can continue in these latter-days.
I have a feeling that Nephi may have felt like we sometimes do – grateful for what we know to be true but also concerned we may not be able to bear the burden of sharing these truths with sons of men. I love the recent talk by Sister Neill F. Marriott, in which she shares: “If we earnestly appeal to God, He takes us as we are—and makes us more than we ever imagined.” I know that simple, sweet, empowering sentence is as true for each of us as it is for the leaders and prophets of today and of the past. We all have wonderful opportunities to grow to be like our Savior here on earth.
I’m a newlywed, a convert, and a Michigan girl. My husband and I live in a little studio apartment and love to go on adventures. I have some pretty pieces of paper on my wall that say I’m not too shabby at communications and economics. I really love hockey, books, 2 Nephi 2:25, sunsets, and anything pink.
