Book of Mormon: Day 16: The Lord knoweth all things

Today’s Reading: 1 Nephi 8:24-38, 1 Nephi 9

1 Nephi 9:6
6 But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all his words. And thus it is. Amen.

In reading this passage I felt strongly that I should pull out my Patriarchal Blessing and re-read it. I’ve even gone so far as to record myself reading my blessing so I can listen to it while driving to work on occasion. It truly goes hand-in-hand with the concept that the Lord knoweth all things, including me personally, and has prepared my way in this life. He has also given me this Patriarchal blessing to be a light in dark times and to guide me through life’s trials. No matter what the adversary tries to drag me through I always know that the Lord has a plan for me, if I but choose to follow, and the same is true for you!

How many of us have prepared ourselves and received our Patriarchal blessings?

President Monson has encouraged all of us to receive this special blessing from the Lord:

Every worthy, baptized member is entitled to and should receive a patriarchal blessing, which provides inspired direction from the Lord. Patriarchal blessings include a declaration of a person’s lineage in the house of Israel and contain personal counsel from the Lord. As a person studies his or her patriarchal blessing and follows the counsel it contains, it will provide guidance, comfort, and protection.

Just as Elder Holland sites in his book Christ and the New Covenant “Christ returns thee to thine eternal promises”, we can easily change thee and thine to me and mine and see the more personalized meaning behind it.
