Advent: Day 23: The Peace of God

Philipians 4:7

7 AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING, SHALL KEEP YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST.

Whether we like it or not, we will all face trials in our lives. Loss, sickness, depression, financial struggles, or sadness are just a few things we can encounter. And in those brutal and painful hours, days, or months, it can be hard to stay hopeful and keep the faith. Trust me, I know.

But there is always one way to bring peace back into our souls. One way to lighten the burdens and overcome the trials we face. When we trust in God, pray to him, and have faith that He will help us, we will feel peace.

Peter taught that the peace of God “passeth all understanding.” Sometimes we will face things that seem like there is no end. Sometimes we might think there is no way things could get better. But that’s why we pray. Because Heavenly Father knows everything, and even when things seem darkest, he will give us peace, which passeth all understanding.

The Holy Ghost will bring us the comfort and peace we need when lights go out. We can stay at peace in the midst of trials and tribulations. When we live our lives righteously and keep the commandments, we can find the peace and assurance that comes only from God. And we will be able to get through another day.
