Today’s Reading: 3 Nephi 14:1-14
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Have you given much thought to how wonderfully our reading of the Book of Mormon coincides with what is happening in the world around us right now? I sure have, in fact I was just having this conversation with my sister – around the idea that the Lord know exactly what we need to be taught and when we need to be tough it.
In our reading today we are being taught by the Savior to judge not, treat others with kindness the way we want to be treated, and to work on our own faults first before looking at the faults of others. Further, He teaches us to walk along the straight and narrow path that will lead us back to eternal salvation. Straight and narrow.
The Lord’s teachings are plain and simple to those who are willing to hear and act. In today’s sociopolitical climate it is easy to see ‘the mote that is in thy brother’s eye,’ without considering the ‘beam that is in thine own eye?’.[i]
My plea to you today sweet sisters is that we remember that we are daughters of a loving heavenly father who teaches us to love, serve others and work diligently on our own salvation and righteousness so that we can stay on the straight and narrow path that He has set. We are to be kind, spread kindness, and stand firm in our faith first and foremost. When we do these things we will be blessed to see more clearly, respond more lovingly and seek out and lift up those who are righteous among us.
Wife to Eric. Mom to Quinn. And Twins Avery & Rhys. I believe that I am a child of God. Who loves me & I love him. I believe in date nights to the Temple. To the movies. Out to dinner and especially long hikes.
Wednesday’s are my fave day of the week because, ‘it’s Wednesday David’. Red is simply the best color. And black takes a close second.
