Book of mormon: Day 221: Wickedness never was happiness

Today’s Reading: Alma 41: 8-15

10 Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness.

The truth is, this world has been and always will be in a constant battle with the adversary. It is part of the plan, the ultimate test of faith in God, that we must continually be placed under pressure. A diamond doesn’t grow in an open field, it needs constant pressure and agitation and time. Sisters, we are to be like diamonds, growing from our trials and adversities. We are to stand firm in our foundational values and hold strong to the rod of iron.

I know first hand how difficult that can be, when depression, death, sorrow and fear creep into our hearts in the still dark hours of the night. I know first hand just how difficult it is to turn your heart back to the Lord and allow him to lead and guide you out of that fear and sorrow. And I testify to you that the more selfless, kind and caring that you are, the more the Lord can work through you until you have become the ultimate window of the Savior’s Love for his children.

Alma 41:14 Therefore, my son, see that you are merciful unto your brethren; deal justly, judge righteously, and do goodcontinually; and if ye do all these things then shall ye receive your reward; yea, ye shall have mercy restored unto you again; ye shall have justice restored unto you again; ye shall have a righteous judgment restored unto you again; and ye shall have good rewarded unto you again.

I challenge each of you this week to ask yourselves this question in your business, household, parental, spousal and otherwise duties: What more can I do that is good?

I testify that wickedness is rapidly expanding in every segment of our society. (See D&C 1:14–16; D&C 84:49–53.) It is more highly organized, more cleverly disguised, and more powerfully promoted than ever before. Secret combinations lusting for power, gain, and glory are flourishing. A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world. (See Ether 8:18–25.)

I testify that the church and kingdom of God is increasing in strength. Its numbers are growing, as is the faithfulness of its faithful members. It has never been better organized or equipped to perform its divine mission.
