Book of Mormon: Day 212: To Bring Them Joy

Today’s Reading: Alma 36:18-30

24 Yea, and from that time even until now, I have labored without ceasing, that I might bring souls unto repentance; that I might bring them to taste of the exceeding joy of which I did taste; that they might also be born of God, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

I love reading the conversion story of Alma. He tells us of what pain and suffering he went through, yes, but then he tells of the great joy and light he received! He says in verse 21 that there is nothing as exquisite and sweet as the joy he felt after receiving a remission of his sins. He absolutely glories in God, and as soon as he had felt that joy, he wanted nothing more than to share it with those around him.

To me this is absolutely inspiring.

I’ve had those moments of joy and conversion, but I can’t say that I immediately go out into the world as a missionary to share them with others. For various reasons, I keep those moments to myself. Maybe because I am embarrassed, or because I am shy, or because I simply don’t think about it.

I need to be more like Alma.

I am so lucky to have the fullness of the Gospel in my life, to have the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and the love God has for me. It truly has brought me so much joy. Why wouldn’t I want to share the source of that joy with others? Starting today, I’m going to start sharing my testimony more, so that I might bring to those around me the knowledge of the Gospel that has brought so much joy to me, in hopes that they will allow it to bring joy to them, too.

Dear sisters, will you join me?
