Today’s reading : Alma 21:10-22:17
When I was called as a Ward Missionary just over a year ago it was a much larger blessing than I’d ever anticipated. I had been praying for a calling, one that I could fulfill and find purpose in without feeling like a failure given my busy work and mom schedule. Since then I have been blessed to give rides to church to new found friends. I am better able to find peace and fulfillment in my ward family as I get to know and love them all more. And can draw closer to the spirit as I meet in ward coalition meetings where we plan out ways to engage more ward members to be missionaries to those around them.
In our last coalition meeting our leader brought forth the new plan that he and the spirit had worked through together. I sat there and smiled as he explained this plan to us and felt an immediate confirmation. After all, it followed the scriptures exactly.
It went a little something like this:
1. Plant seeds
2. Cultivate
3. Harvest
Aamon was the ultimate seed planter. Everywhere he went he worked to turn the hearts of the children to their Heavenly Father. He didn’t always get to harvest, but he worked diligently to plant and cultivate.
How can we plant and cultivate seeds of truth in the hearts of those around us each and every day?
I like to reference this list from Elder Scott’s BYU commencement address, title Living a Life of Peace, Joy & Purpose:
1. Establish a set of principles that you will use in ALL aspects of your life.
2. Don’t compromise on your standards.
3. Be loyal, to your parents and your loved ones. Most of all, the Lord.
4. Live so that the Lord can guide you to where he wants you to be and to serve.
5. Serve others. Share what you know.
6. Smile.
7. Don’t complain.
8. Always have a church assignment.
9. Go to the temple. Carry a current recommend.
10. Use the Savior Jesus Christ as your example for life.
Wife to Eric. Mom to Quinn. And Twins Avery & Rhys. I believe that I am a child of God. Who loves me & I love him. I believe in date nights to the Temple. To the movies. Out to dinner and especially long hikes.
Wednesday’s are my fave day of the week because, ‘it’s Wednesday David’. Red is simply the best color. And black takes a close second.
