Book of Mormon: Day 125: Be Steadfast and Immovable

Today’s Reading: Mosiah 5:10-15

15 Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you his, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen.

Steadfast: resolutely firm and unwavering. See also: loyal, faithful, committed, devoted, dedicated, dependable, true, constant. When I hear the word steadfast, I immediately think of a mountain, something strong and immovable, something that is truly constant. And that is how I want to be known by my friends, and by my Father in Heaven.

I want to be steadfast for Him.
I want to be steadfast in Him.

These days, there are many worldly whims and fancies that come and go. There are moral issues pressing from every side, clamoring for attention. There are a million-and-one ways to turn, and just as many opportunities to fall off the path that Christ has laid for us. Some we can plainly see and steer clear of, but some are subtle, and are far too easy to get wrapped up in.

It’s hard and scary and daunting, this life.

I know that as we continually study the scriptures, pray, attend church and do all the ‘standard primary answers’ – that we can and will become steadfast and immovable. That the Lord will be able to depend on us, and on our faith. That we will be able to stay committed to Him and His gospel. As we serve others, we abound in good works. Is there a greater promise than this, that “Christ [will] seal you His”?

I don’t think so. That is the greatest promise, the greatest gift.

I am ready to receive it.
Are you?
