Book of Mormon: Day 73: Press Forward

Today’s Reading: 2 Nephi 31:15-21

20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

I’ve been blessed to work with the youth of the church the majority of the last 4 years. Their knowledge and love of and for the Gospel astounds me weekly. We are truly raising up a choice generation. The above scripture is this year’s mutual theme, and oh, how inspired it is.

The world we are faced with today is cold and cruel, and the road we walk can be lonely, with many more enticing-looking roads shooting off every few feet. There are those that mock, those that beckon “come”, and those that seem to wander aimlessly on and off the path.

We need not wander nor do we need to wonder. Christ is on our side, and He has given us the path to eternal life — life with Him and our Father in Heaven. We must press forward (with hope!) and feast upon His word. We must press forward and endure again and again. It is not easy, but it will be oh-so-worth it. And He has given us the tools we need to succeed. The words of Christ are our handbook to life. Just like without food or water, our physical body would perish, so it is that without spiritual food, our spirit will perish.

“We need to feast upon the words of Christ in the scriptures and as these words come to us from living prophets. Just nibbling occasionally will not do.” (source)

I know this to be true. I hope that we can feast, that we can press forward, that we can find hope, and that we can endure. I know as we do these things, we will be blessed beyond our wildest imaginings. God is great, and He can do all. And we “can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth [us].” (Philippians 4:13)
