Book of Mormon: Day 63: We Preach of Christ

Today’s Reading: 2 Nephi 25:17-30

26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.

Growing up in Utah, I was never really confronted by anyone who didn’t share my beliefs. The majority of the people I knew were LDS, and those that weren’t knew what the religion entailed since they were surrounded by Mormons, so there were never very many questions or confrontations. It wasn’t until I started my lifestyle blog in 2014 that I started to be confronted by fellow Christian bloggers. Not by many, but by a few. And the statement that hurt my soul the worst was the one of “you’re not a Christian”.

When people accuse me of not being a Christian my heart breaks. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, with all my body, mind, and spirit. He is my Rock, my Redeemer, my Savior, my Brother, my Best Friend. My faith is firmly rooted in Him, yet these people believe that I am not a Christian, that I do not follow Christ.

And it makes me want to weep.

I love this scripture because it truly testifies that we ARE Christians. That our whole religion is based on Christ. That all we do in this church is to bring others to Christ, and to learn to take His name upon us, learn of Him, and to become like Him. Elder Oaks said in 1985:

As true believers in Christ, as Christians, we have gladly taken his name upon us.

Yes, we are Christians. We have taken His name upon us. We follow Him. We love Him. We look to Him as a remission of our sins. And all those things, at least in my opinion, make me a Christian.

As Christians
