Book of Mormon: Day 44: One Mighty Among Them

Today’s Reading: 2 Nephi 3:21-25

24 And there shall rise up one mighty among them, who shall do much good, both in word and in deed, being an instrument in the hands of God, with exceeding faith, to work mighty wonders, and do that thing which is great in the sight of God, unto the bringing to pass much restoration unto the house of Israel, and unto the seed of thy brethren.

I have had many experiences where my testimony was strengthened on Joseph Smith, Jr. He was a Prophet called of God, and I believe it. Joseph Smith was mightier than anyone I’ve known about in Church history. He was faithful, diligent, compassionate, hard-working, and the example we all need in our lives. Brother Joseph brought so much happiness to the saints when it seemed like all that was, was sorrow.

God has sent forth mighty prophets, to bring to pass “much restoration unto the house of Israel.” I truly believe that Joseph Smith, Jr. was called of God to restore His Church upon the earth today. I believe that even at a young age of 14, Joseph Smith, Jr. was able to understand the magnificent calling God was placing upon him. Elder LeGrand Richards said:

“The Prophet Joseph Smith brought us the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, and many other writings. As far as our records show, he has given us more revealed truth than any prophet who has ever lived upon the face of the earth”. —Call of the Prophets, (Ensign May 1981)

Because of the faith of this prophet, God was able to work wonders in building His Kingdom upon the earth. He was able to bring forth the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price and many other writings. Joseph Smith worked so hard to help others come unto Christ to receive the fulness of the gospel. He could not have done it alone. He could not have made up any of this, alone. He had the power of God with him. He was an instrument in the hands of God. I believe the Book of Mormon to be true, with all of my heart. I have read it many, many times to know of its truth. God has testified to me that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and did in fact, restore the Church upon the earth. I am grateful to Joseph Smith and the hard-work he did to bring forth something truly life-changing for me.
