Today’s Reading: 2 Nephi 2: 8-11
9 Wherefore, he is the first-fruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men;and they that believe in him shall be saved.
I find this scripture very touching. The miracle of the atonement is that is covers EVERYONE. It covers good people, bad people and people who have never even heard of Christ. The atonement covers everyone who ever has and ever will live on the earth. Christ is the first fruits of God in that he was the first to be resurrected. Because of His resurrection, everyone will be resurrected and will return to the presence of God. Everyone will have the opportunity to live again and become like God!
Another miracle of the atonement is that it affects everyone personally. In some incomprehensible way, Christ suffered the pains and sins of everyone. Because of what he went through for us, he is able to understand and help each of us perfectly. The definition of intercede means to act or interpose in behalf of someone in difficulty or trouble. As we repent and turn to Christ, he becomes our intercessor between us and the Father. He literally pleads before God in our behalf. Though he was sinless, he suffered the penalty of our sins. He is also there to comfort and strengthen us during our trials. He is the only one who can truly say, “I know how you feel.”
It truly blows my mind to think about the love Christ has for me. His grace is available for everyone! We just need to let him into our lives and allow him to help us. I challenge you to really study and ponder the atonement and the resurrection. I want you to think of how it applies to you personally. It is truly such a gift that the Savior gave us because he loves us. <3
