Today’s Reading: 1 Nephi 14:1-11
- And it shall come to pass, that if the Gentiles shall hearken unto the Lamb of God in that day that he shall manifest himself unto them in word, and also in power, in very deed, unto the taking away of their stumbling blocks
As someone who seems to stumble a lot, I find this scripture very comforting. Life is a test and it definitely has its challenges. But how wonderful is it to know that we have a kind and loving Savior who will help us through all our challenges! My mom recently came down with a bad case of vertigo and as she was stumbling through the house the other day she said: “I may stumble but I don’t fall!” What a wonderful analogy for life! Yes, we each will stumble at times in life whether it be physically, mentally, emotionally or spiritually. But the Lord has promised that if we hearken unto him, not only will he lift us up but he will take away our stumbling blocks! Because of His atonement, Christ can turn our trials into blessings and our weaknesses into strengths. Because of Christ, we won’t fall.
So how do we hearken unto the Lamb of God and access these blessings? I believe that it all starts with prayer. Sincere prayer allows the power of the atonement into our lives. It gives us the strength we need to cope with life’s challenges. We continue in faith by studying the word of God, attending church and following the words of prophets and apostles. These small and simple things will increase our faith and give us the strength we need as we go about life.
I pray that we can each find strength as we allow Christ into our lives and truly hearken unto Him.
