27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:
not as the world giveth, give I unto you.
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
I often find myself desiring peace ‘of the world’, and forgetting that the Lord’s peace is ‘not as the world giveth’. The Lord’s peace in my life has been comfort, joy, a warm hug, a heartfelt smile from a friend or stranger. It’s been the plate of cookies that a friend brings on a whim or a the thoughtful email from a co-worker. I have found that the Lord’s peace is given and worked through all of us, for all of us. If we only have the faith to ‘let not [our] heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’ we can find true peace in this life and the life to come.
I know the holiday is almost upon us, so I challenge you today to give and receive the Lord’s peace in your life. How can you be His instrument in sharing peace in the world during this busy season? How can you better receive His peace?
