Advent: Day 20: The Joy of His Son

23 And now, my brethren, I desire
that ye shall plant this word in your
hearts, and as it beginneth to swell
even so nourish it by your faith. And
behold, it will become a tree, spring-
ing up in you unto evelasting
life. And then may God grant unto
you that your burdens may be
light, through the joy of his Son.
And even all this can ye do if ye will.
Amen.

I wanted to share a verse from the Book of Mormon on joy. A lot of scriptures about joy and the birth of Christ have been shared just in time for the holidays. I feel like this scripture spoke straight to me. I found a few others that I will share at the bottom of this post, but I felt this one was most relevant to Christmas time and the joy of Christ.

I love verses that talk about putting the gospel of Jesus Christ first. It is so important to not only put Him first, but to keep Him there. And we can learn to keep Him first, by reading our scriptures, partaking of the sacrament, repenting when needed, praying intently. Our Heavenly Father loves us. He wants us to know His Beloved Son.

I just love how much symbolism is in this verse. The gospel of Jesus Christ, His light and His love will “spring up in us” unto everlasting life.” Isn’t that beautiful? Christ will fill our soul, with happiness, love and gratitude. We can become Christlike by putting Him first and allowing Him to cleanse us from within.

And it is through His Son, that we can repent of our sins, and that our “burdens may be light.” It is because of Christ that we do not have to walk alone. It is because of Christ, that we are gifted with an advocate. It is because of Christ that we may return to live with our Heavenly Father and loved ones again.

I feel so much joy; everlasting joy, when I read this verse. I knew it was the one the second I read the line, “through the joy of his son.” We are so blessed to have a Savior, Redeemer and Friend. He is our Christ, who overcame death. He walks with us, and loves us. He shows us the way. There is so much Joy in Christ.

I hope that through She Teaches Fearlessly, you are able to come to know of Christ for yourself. I pray that you will feel of His love, through the writers of this blog. We want so much for you to know Him.
