Advent: Day Eleven: He Gave His Only Son

John 3:16-17

16 ¶For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He gave His son. Those four words change everything. When we realize that God, the mighty God, the all-knowing, wonderful Entity that created us and worlds without number, that He gave His only begotten Son for us, well, that’s when we realize how much He truly loves us.

Jesus Christ is God’s literal son on Earth. He is the eldest son, the perfect one. However, we are all God’s children, too. And because God loves us all perfectly, equally, without question, He sent this Eldest Son, this Perfect One to suffer, bleed, and die for our sins, that we might not perish, but live forever.

The love of a father is one of the greatest things we can experience in this life. But the love of THE Father transcends all, even death. Because of God’s greatest gift, the gift of His son, we can be saved. God’s love for us set this plan in motion, and oh, what a happy plan it is indeed.

How have you seen God’s love for you manifested in your life?
