Advent Day nine: I Will Not Forget Thee

13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
14 But Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

  • Isaiah 49:13-16

As mentioned yesterday, the love a mother has for her child is the closest thing to Christ’s divine love He has for us. This is not just an assumption we mortals have made. Many times Christ mentions in the scriptures that like a hen, He’ll gather His chicks, or as a husband waits for His wife, or a woman’s love for her sucking child that she carried in the womb.

He promises us that He will never forget us. He wants to prove that love for us, so He “marked us upon His hands”–when He was crucified for our sins, nails were driven through His hands–it is a constant reminder, not for Him, but for us. Proof that He truly does love us and will NEVER EVER forget us. How can He? He’s perfect. And His love for us is perfect.

Join with us this week in reciprocating that love for Him. Sing praises to His name. And what more perfect time than Christmas? I challenge you to go Christmas caroling, focusing on the songs that worship Him.
